Durango Proactive Medicine does not contract with insurance companies.

In today's medical landscape, insurance companies have fostered an environment of high cost, unequal access and poor outcome.  For this reason, Dr. Shanley has opted out of participating.  This allows Durango Proactive Medicine to eliminate the significant administrative costs of trying to be reimbursed for care that has already been given.

Payment

All charges must be paid at the time of service.  Credit card, HSA & other debit cards, cash, Venmo & personal check accepted.  For insurance coverage (except Medicare) you will receive a superbill that contains the codes needed for you to submit a claim to your insurance carrier.  They may or may not reimburse you, depending on your contract with them. We are an "out-of-network" provider. 

What does this mean for you?

Dr. Shanley has set reasonable prices for services.  Instead of paying $500+ for 10 minutes with a doctor, you get 45-60 minute appointments for much less.  If you are on Medicare, the federal government requires you to sign a waiver prior to service.  You are prohibited (by the government) from filing a claim for reimbursement from Medicare.

Labs, X-rays, Referrals etc.

Your contract with your chosen insurance provide will generally cover many diagnostic tests and lab work.  In addition, Dr. Shanley has discounted panels of tests available through LabCorp. If you have a high deductible plan, paying cash for these services may be less expensive for you. Check with your insurance company to verify.
